{"id":16271,"date":"2025-09-19T23:29:53","date_gmt":"2025-09-19T23:29:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aopdj.org\/?p=16271"},"modified":"2025-09-19T23:29:54","modified_gmt":"2025-09-19T23:29:54","slug":"president-of-the-federation-of-sudanese-human-rights-organizations-calls-for-international-accountability-for-the-sudanese-armys-systematic-crimes-against-civilians","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aopdj.org\/?p=16271","title":{"rendered":"President of the Federation of Sudanese Human Rights Organizations: Calls for International Accountability for the Sudanese Army\u2019s Systematic Crimes Against Civilians"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Geneva \/ September 2025<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of its participation in the 60th session of the UN Human Rights Council, the<br>Federation of Sudanese Human Rights Organizations, together with several international and<br>African organizations holding UN consultative status, organized an international symposium<br>titled \u201cAfrica at a Crossroads in Geography and International Politics.\u201d The event brought<br>together international experts and stakeholders focused on the human rights situation across<br>Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>During the symposium, the President of the Federation delivered a briefing on the<br>deteriorating human rights situation in Sudan, highlighting the scale of the humanitarian<br>tragedy endured by civilians. He underscored the widespread violations, crimes against<br>humanity, and war crimes committed by the Sudanese Armed Forces and their allied militias<br>and extremist groups. He urged the international community to pursue justice and criminal<br>accountability for all violations under international human rights and humanitarian law,<br>stressing the need to activate international mechanisms to refer these crimes to international<br>courts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>The Federation\u2019s President also addressed the range of violations carried out by the Sudanese<br>army across numerous cities and regions, which have displaced more than 15 million people<br>inside and outside Sudan. He warned of the grave danger of allowing the Sudanese army to<br>use chemical weapons banned under international law, as well as aerial bombardments<br>against civilians, in addition to violations of fundamental rights such as health, education, and<br>development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>In concluding his remarks, the President emphasized the importance of strengthening<br>international efforts and called on the United Nations to assume its responsibility in<br>safeguarding international peace and security.
