{"id":16257,"date":"2025-09-16T23:33:39","date_gmt":"2025-09-16T23:33:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aopdj.org\/?p=16257"},"modified":"2025-09-16T23:33:41","modified_gmt":"2025-09-16T23:33:41","slug":"coalition-of-sudanese-human-rights-organizations-delivers-an-oral-statement-before-the-human-rights-council-on-sudan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aopdj.org\/?p=16257","title":{"rendered":"Coalition of Sudanese Human Rights Organizations Delivers an Oral Statement before the Human Rights Council on Sudan"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Geneva \/ Human Rights Council<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Within the framework of activating the participation of the Federation of Sudanese Human<br>Rights Centers, the Union of Sudanese Human Rights Organizations, the \u201cSave the Civilians<br>in Sudan\u201d Alliance, the Dawn Organization for Peace, Development and Justice, together<br>with international organizations holding consultative status with the United Nations, during<br>the 60th session of the Human Rights Council, these organizations took part in the session<br>dedicated to the review of the report of the Independent International Fact-Finding<br>Committee established by the UN Human Rights Council. The Committee\u2019s second report<br>was presented, followed by a general debate that included member and observer states of the<br>Council, as well as oral interventions delivered by international NGOs.<br>The Dawn Organization for Peace, Development and Justice delivered its oral statement on<br>behalf of the allied organizations, addressing the human rights situation in Sudan, following<br>the presentation of the Committee\u2019s report and the subsequent state interventions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The statement read as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Mr. President,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We affirm the importance of the Fact-Finding Committee\u2019s report, and we call for the<br>renewal of its mandate and for ensuring its ability to operate in all regions of Sudan. We<br>condemn the practices adopted by the military government in Port Sudan, which have aimed<br>at obstructing its work and refusing to cooperate. We further call for strengthening the<br>Committee\u2019s work in monitoring and documenting the violations committed by the Sudanese<br>Armed Forces, which have resulted in the world\u2019s largest ongoing humanitarian crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Mr. President,<br>The Sudanese Armed Forces continue to commit crimes and violations against civilians.<br>Together with allied militias, they have carried out summary executions and field killings,<br>alongside enforced disappearances, arbitrary arrests, torture, and child recruitment, with more<br>than 200 cases documented in 2025 alone. In addition, indiscriminate shelling has claimed<br>the lives of tens of thousands of civilians, resulting in 150,000 deaths, more than 14 million<br>refugees, and hundreds of thousands of injured. These crimes are being concealed through<br>false allegations of foreign interventions and the use of mercenaries, as a policy of deception<br>and denial of responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Mr. President,<br>Impunity threatens the credibility of the international system. We call upon this esteemed<br>Council to firmly condemn the violations and crimes committed by the Sudanese Armed<br>Forces, particularly their use of chemical weapons, and to activate international mechanisms<br>for accountability and justice regarding the crimes and abuses committed by them and their<br>allied armed groups, and to refer such crimes to the International Criminal Court.
